Six Spots Your Circular Label Already Fits
Most round labels we quote land on one of these six positions — find yours and the diameter rule for it below.
Jar Lids & Seals
A circle centered on the lid turns any jar into a branded product — the seal reads clean from every angle on the shelf.
Food Container Lids
Refrigerated and grab-and-go containers call for waterproof white BOPP circles that survive condensation and oil.
Candle Lids & Tins
A centered round label carries your fragrance name and burn notes without wrapping the curve of the tin.
Wine & Spirit Fronts
Oval fronts are a classic label silhouette — soft corners that suit premium bottles without looking generic.
Honey & Jam Jars
Lid circles and body rounds for preserves, in paper for craft shelves or BOPP for washable jars.
Bath & Body Bottles
Roundels and oval fronts on pump and squeeze bottles, with materials matched to wet-hand use.
Circle Labels, Round Labels — One Die, Four Names
Buyers search four different words for the same shelf result. Here is how the wording maps to what you order.
Round Labels
The default term for a full circle product label — one number (the diameter) defines the die.
Circle Labels
Circle is the common synonym — same die, same quote path, no separate product line.
Oval Labels
A stretched round for fronts and panels — two numbers define the die instead of one.
Circular Labels
Packaging specs and drawings often say circular — it prints as the same round label.
One production line covers all four wordings. Round, circle, and oval labels run as standard die-cut shapes in our Shenzhen factory — recent production inquiries span 2-inch jar seals to 95 mm container lids. Whatever term your artwork sheet uses, send the size in inches or millimeters and it becomes the die specification.
Size Your Round Labels in Inches or Millimeters
US catalogs list fixed sizes; metric buyers get no reference. This table gives you both units — and any custom diameter quotes.
| Diameter (in) | Diameter (mm) | Typical use | Per-sheet area |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.5" | 12.7 mm | Mini seals, sample vials | Very dense layouts |
| 1" | 25.4 mm | Small lids, lip balm bases | Dense |
| 1.5" | 38.1 mm | Honey pots, tins | Moderate |
| 2" | 50.8 mm | Jar lids, slime jars | Moderate |
| 2.5" | 63.5 mm | Wide-mouth lids | Open |
| 3" | 76.2 mm | Food container lids, deli | Open |
| 4" | 101.6 mm | Large lids, gift seals | One or two per sheet |
Lid and seal circles
Measure the flat lid face, then subtract 3–6 mm so the label sits inside the edge — a circle that overhangs the curve will lift at the rim.
Body and front circles
Use the flat visible height of the container as your maximum diameter; anything larger starts wrapping the curve and needs a different plan.
Common round-label diameters run from 0.5 to 4 inches (12.7–101.6 mm); 1 inch equals 25.4 mm. Any custom diameter or oval length-width can be quoted — send the size in inches or millimeters and it becomes the die specification. Sizes above 4 inches and non-listed diameters are quoted per project, so an unusual size costs you an email, not a compromise.
Match the Material to What the Label Survives
The same circle prints on four everyday face stocks. Pick by the conditions around your container, not by price alone.
White BOPP
Waterproof and oil-resistant — the default for refrigerated food lids and jars that live in condensation.
Full-color print on a bright white base keeps brand colors punchy.
Vinyl
Tougher film for outdoor rounds, equipment panels, and labels that take repeated handling.
Lamination available when scuffing is the main risk.
Gloss Paper
The economical circle for dry indoor products — gift seals, bakery lids, event packaging.
Best print vibrancy per dollar when moisture is not a factor.
Clear BOPP
Invisible-base rounds for the no-label look on glass and clear plastic.
Dark artwork prints over a white-ink base so colors stay solid.
White and clear BOPP, PET, and metallic foil face stocks run in-house — white BOPP is the default for food and refrigerated round labels, proven in live RFQs. Condition guide: match the stock to the working environment first; extreme heat, chemicals, or outdoor years are confirmed on a printed proof, not promised from a chart.
Roundness in Numbers You Can Verify
A circle that prints off-center, slightly oval, or with edge whitening looks cheap on the shelf. Here are the three numbers that prevent it.
Die-cut tolerance
The circle that arrives is the circle you specced — roundness and centering held to a third of a millimeter.
Color difference control
Batch-to-batch color runs under ΔE management, so reorder number four matches launch day.
Underbase first
Dark and brand-critical areas get a white-ink base before color — no see-through, no muddy hues on clear and film stocks.
Color runs under ΔE control, die-cutting holds ±0.3 mm, and dark brand areas get a white-ink base first — the numbers you can hold any supplier to on a round label. Condition: deep and brand-critical zones are white-based before CMYK. Boundary: extreme spot-color matches are confirmed on the physical proof, not promised in advance.
Oval Labels: Any Length and Width, Not Three Fixed Sizes
Most oval configurators offer 2×3, 2×4, and 4×6 — and stop. If your bottle wants 90 × 60 mm, your only option has been a template compromise.
Wine & spirit fronts
Oval fronts are the classic silhouette for premium bottles — a custom length-width means the curve follows your bottle, not a catalog SKU.
Food & preserve panels
Ovals hold more copy than a circle at the same height — ingredient panels and batch fields fit without shrinking the wordmark.
Ovals are quoted like rounds: two numbers, one die. Oval-shaped labels and oval sticker labels share the same line as circle labels, and oval wine labels are a standing application. Recent oval inquiries include 2×3 inch and 95 mm formats — both quoted without a template compromise.
Thirteen Designs, One Production Run
A recent food program ran thirteen round label designs in a single consolidated order — the shape identical, the artwork different on every SKU.
Consolidate designs, not compromises
Circle and oval labels share one die diameter across your flavor or scent range, so each design adds artwork — not a new tooling conversation. Quantity splits per design are confirmed in your quote.
Small brands start with a handful of designs at launch volumes; wholesalers repeat the same consolidated run as ranges grow. Same line, same tolerance, either way.
Rolls for Machines, Sheets for Hands
The same printed circle ships two ways. Decide by how it gets onto the product — before you order, not after.
| Rolls (machine-ready) | Kiss-cut sheets & singles (hand-applied) | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Applicators and automated lines | Small batches, markets, hand labeling |
| Cores | 3" (76 mm), 2", or 1" | — |
| Unwind | Your direction, set per line | — |
| Machine check | 127+ applicator profiles on file | — |
| Circle spacing | Gaps tuned to your feeder | Multiple circles per A4 or letter sheet |
| Order note | Send your machine model for a profile check | Choose sheet count or individual singles |
Round labels ship on rolls with 3-inch (76 mm), 2-inch, or 1-inch cores, your unwind direction, and applicator checks against 127+ machine profiles — or kiss-cut on sheets and singles.
Condition: machine-applied rounds are checked against your applicator profile before the run. Boundary: no 7-inch cores; large-core reels for Zebra-class industrial printers are confirmed per model before quoting.
Proof the Real Circle Before the Full Run
Roundness, centering, and color are three things a screen cannot show you. Four steps stand between your artwork and a bad surprise.
Send artwork & specs
Shape, size, material, quantities — unknowns can be marked "not sure yet" and resolved with your PM.
Printed proof
A print proof on your actual face stock and production inks confirms roundness, centering, and color before the run — the proof cost is credited back when you proceed to mass production.
Proof sign-off
You approve the physical proof — the same reference the line runs to, not a screen approximation.
Run & ship
Production runs 4–5 working days after sign-off, then ships DDP or FOB to your door or port.
Condition: the proof precedes every first run and any material change. Boundary: proof pricing comes with your quote, and the proof cost is credited back when you proceed to mass production.
Factory-Direct Round Labels, DDP or FOB
You are buying from the printing floor, not a reseller — one address owns your artwork, plates, color, and packing.
Label manufacturing
Prepress, flexo and letterpress, die-cutting, slitting and rewinding under one roof.
Shenzhen plant
Golden-sample QC and production records kept on site for every run.
Business-hours quotes
Feasibility and quote paths return within 12 business hours of your inquiry.
Production window
Working-day production after proof sign-off, worldwide shipping options attached.
From an 18-year, 15,000 m² Shenzhen factory: quotes return within 12 business hours, production runs 4–5 working days after proof sign-off, and labels ship DDP or FOB worldwide. Condition: production timing starts at proof sign-off, not at inquiry. Boundary: transit times and landed costs are quoted with your order, since they follow your destination and service level.
